SUMMARY:Family Halloween Party
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to this ever growing community-wide Family Halloween Party at St. James. \nWe decorate our gathering area and worship space for some unearthly fun.  We have carnival games to play.  Our Youth Minister\, Adam Michael organizes great games and activities for the youth.  And we have a few snacks on hand in case anyone gets the munchies.  We dim the lights in our worship space\, and our Minister of Music\, Jonathan Noel\, plays eerie (but fun!) music on our organ.  It really is a great evening for the whole family! \nThen we go out onto the steps of the church and Youth House to watch the Gettysburg Halloween Parade along York Street.  In the event of rain\, we will post-pone our event\, as it is in-junction with the Gettysburg Halloween Parade. \nCheck out the video of Jonathan playing organ music and some of the fun our youth had at the Halloween Party!

SUMMARY:Building the Beloved Community
DESCRIPTION:Building the Beloved Community\nSt. James Benefit Performance\nSunday\, June 25 at 4:00 p.m.\nAs we approach the anniversary of the birth of our nation on July 4\, we are reminded that freedom always comes with responsibilities\, to one another and to the natural world that sustains us.  We don’t stand alone but are members of a community.  We become the people we are meant to be as we work to strengthen that community. We take but we must also give back to the people and natural systems upon which we depend. \nLast September St. James member Will Lane presented a program of original songs focused on care of creation and the natural world. On Sunday\, June 25\, at 4:00 p.m.\, he will present a second program of songs celebrating the human community and our connections with one another. \nA free-will offering will be collected to benefit the Adams Rescue Mission Endowment Fund.

SUMMARY:God's work. Our hands. Sunday
DESCRIPTION:God’s work. Our hands. Sunday is a single day when Lutherans across the nation come together to serve our communities \nThis day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church\, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. \nService activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service\, in every daily calling\, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living\, daring confidence in God’s grace. \nSt. James Lutheran Church and other Lutheran Church in the Gettysburg Conference come together to serve organizations within our community through a variety of service projects. \nHere are the God’s work. Our hands. Sunday service opportunities for 2022: \n\nRuth’s Harvest Food Collection:  Collecting food for food insecure children – meet at Lincoln Elementary School\nLWR Quilt Making – Meet at Christ Lutheran Church\, Gettysburg\nCamp Nawakwa Beautification – Meet at Camp Nawakwa in Arendtsville to complete projects around the camp\nLWR Blanket Making – Meet at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Biglerville\n\nSign-up for your service project here. \nGathering time is at 1:00 p.m.  Please note that this year volunteers will launch from the service sites.  (In previous years\, there was a Sending Service from a central location; this will not be occurring this year.)
