Sunday is a single day when Lutherans across the nation come together to serve our communities \nThis day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church\, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. \nService activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service\, in every daily calling\, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living\, daring confidence in God’s grace. \nSt. James Lutheran Church and other Lutheran Church in the Gettysburg Conference come together to serve organizations within our community through a variety of service projects. \nHere are the God’s work. Our hands. Sunday service opportunities for 2022: \n\nRuth’s Harvest Food Collection:  Collecting food for food insecure children – meet at Lincoln Elementary School\nLWR Quilt Making – Meet at Christ Lutheran Church\, Gettysburg\nCamp Nawakwa Beautification – Meet at Camp Nawakwa in Arendtsville to complete projects around the camp\nLWR Blanket Making – Meet at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Biglerville\n\nSign-up for your service project here. \nGathering time is at 1:00 p.m.  Please note that this year volunteers will launch from the service sites.  (In previous years\, there was a Sending Service from a central location; this will not be occurring this year.)

DESCRIPTION:We’ve got a great opportunity for fellowship with Seminary First Years and congregation members of Trinity Arendtsville! \nCome on Thursday\, September 1 to Camp Nawakwa at the Upper Camp.\nWe’ll eat at 5:30 p.m. and have evening prayer at 6:30 p.m. \nThe prayer time will be lead by Gil Waldkoenig. \nPlease be sure to RSVP\, as all food and supplies will be provided.  Be sure you use the link below to let us know you are coming.  All you need to do is bring a chair and a friend! \nMeal items will be provided by the St. James Evangelism Committee and will include grilled burgers\, hotdogs\, veggie burgers\, salads\, chips and desserts.  Beverages will also be provided. \nYou are welcome to come early to relax\, walk or play at Nawakwa.  If you’d like to bring a yard game or two\, you are welcome to do that as well.
