Dietrich Bonhoeffer & Christian Nationalism

During Lent we shared a series focusing on Dietrich Bonhoeffer.  The life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer calls all of us as people of faith into the deep questions about what it means to walk with Christ in times of civic crisis and brokenness.  We are excited to share a fall series, focusing on Christian Nationalism, exploring the ways we are invited to see Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s life and writings as a profound witness to what it means to listen and respond to Christ in our own time in history. Our experience will continue to be based on the curriculum offered to congregations from LAMPa (Lutheran Advocacy Ministry in Pennsylvania) written by Dr. Lori Brandt Hale of Augsburg University and the President of the International Bonhoeffer Society.

We will explore 4 sessions:

Wednesday, 10/14: The Essential Bonhoeffer
Explore the inspirational core spiritual teachings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer that shaped his life

Wednesday, 10/21: Following Pastor Bonhoeffer’s Footsteps
Experience the historical framework highlighting Bonhoeffer’s life as witness to the political and social events which led to the rise of Nazi Germany (Presented by Tom Vossler)

Wednesday, 10/28: Bonhoeffer and Christian Nationalism
Hear Bonhoeffer’s opposition to Christian Nationalism and how it speaks to us as people of faith

Wednesday, 11/4: “Who is Christ for us today?”
Meet the challenge of Bonhoeffer’s most essential question as we explore the work that is ours to do in response to the movement of Christian Nationalism at this time in our history

Please note the the previous Lenten series is not a prerequisite for the fall sessions.
Our first session is designed to catch you up!

We hope that you will join us on this journey with Bonhoeffer’s words and life as we deepen our own journey of discipleship and faithfulness.
