About Youth Ministry

Service to the growth of the youth of our congregation and our local community has been a long-standing priority of St. James Lutheran Church.

Our Director of Youth and Family Ministry (with help from a Youth Committee comprised of faithful volunteers) leads the efforts to provide engaging experiences to help our youth grow, learn, cultivate good relationships, and worship. Both the Youth Group and Sunday School are available to all area young people, no church membership required.

Confirmation classes walk youth through the process of studying and exploring faith and Lutheran beliefs. Once a youth has completed the three-year Confirmation program, a Confirmation service brings that individual into the church as a full, adult member.

Child Care

The St. James Early Learning Center has provided child care services for Gettysburg area families for decades. Located on the lower level of the building, the ELC serves children ages newborn to pre-Kindergarten in their learning and growth. Children in the ELC are introduced to Chapel Time with our Director of Youth and Family Ministry each week. They sing songs, dance, learn stories from the bible in an engaging and thoughtful way.
