Timothy E. Braband, and his wife, Barbara served the St. James Congregation for 45 years in Music Ministry. The couple retired from St. James Lutheran Church in August 2020. The Celebration of Service took place May 1, 2022 honoring the Brabands; the afternoon was filled with music, choir anthems, prayer and readings.
At this performance, the Brabands were honored with the establishment of the Braband Organ Scholarship which will offer organ lessons to individuals. The scholarship is to help curb the shortage of church organists by encouraging youth to take organ lessons. Each scholarship winner will receive private organ lessons for one year, taught by the incumbent organist. The only expense the student would incur would be some music, a pair of organ shoes, and the commitment of time to practice.
Scholarship priority will be honored to youth, yet adults are encouraged to apply as well!
As part of the application process, students will need to demonstrate basic piano skills.
To apply to the Braband Organ Scholarship, please complete the application and email to Jonathan Noel, Minister of Music.
