Emily Harte

I was born in York, PA and was raised Catholic. I moved to Gettysburg in 2004. I retired from the National Park Service two years ago. I attended HACC for my associate degree in business management, BCCC for a certificate degree in Historic Preservation, and Indiana University for a certificate degree in Facility Management. Additionally, I have both a teachers and operator’s license in Cosmetology.

I started attending St. James over 25 years ago. I have had the pleasure of participating in a number of different activities to include making fastnachts, cooking breakfast for both Gettysburg C.A.R.E.S. and the youth, participating in the dinners with members, cooking soups and bread for both Lenten and Advent Wednesday night meals, travelling on a mission trip to Guatemala twice, and joining in Book Club. Currently I am working with the Sustainability small group.

St. James truly has been truly a welcoming community.  I would like to do my part for the church community by working with other council members in order to make sure we can continue the work St. James does.

Ann Ketterman

I have lived in Gettysburg all my life and a member of St. James since 3rd grade. I have been a registered nurse for 40 years and currently work at Adams Oral Surgery in Gettysburg and Hanover.

I have been on the Early Learning Center Governance Committee since it’s launch. I also helped begin the Fastnacht Fundraiser.

Over the years, I have been part of staffing the Nursery during church, taking blood pressures, baking bread, and sacristy.

Since having three daughters, I was and still am a member of the Parents Sunday School class, which is now Faith and Fellowship.

I served on a ‘five year plan’ committee many years ago and served on Pastor Mike’s Mutual Ministry Committee.  I am running for a consecutive 2nd term on church council. I look forward to continuing my service to St. James.

Will Lane

Will Lane grew up on York Street in Gettysburg and sang in the youth choir at what is now Trinity UCC on the corner of High and Stratton Streets. After working about twelve years in the building trades, he graduated from Gettysburg College in 1982. During the remaining 80s and early 90s, he worked for several years as a wedding and portrait photographer (with his father, Walter Lane) and then shifted to the Adams County Head Start Program where he served as a Parent Involvement Coordinator, working especially with Spanish-speaking families and with the fathers of Head Start children. He was a founding member of both the Interfaith Center for Peace and Justice (ICPJ) and Project Gettysburg Leon (PGL). In 1995 he began teaching writing at Gettysburg College and continued until 2020 when he retired as Director of the Writing Center there. After retiring, he continued to teach writing part time until 2024.

Will lives with his wife Anne Bucher Lane near Gettysburg and is the grateful stepdad of her three children—Hannah, Leah, and Nathan—and six amazing grandchildren—Cyrus, Cora, Alana, Preston, Lauran, and Nathan Jr.

At St. James, Will sings in the choir, is a member of the Reconciling in Christ Committee, and has also been active with the Creation Care Task Force. He has been serving on Council for one full term and part of an former member’s unfinished term. He is grateful for the opportunity to continue serving if elected.

Ed Main

I have lived in Adams County all my life. I was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville, PA until my wife and I became members of St. James in 1976. We participated in the Young Parents Sunday School Class. I have participated in several Bible Studies with St. James members over the years. My wife Sam and I have been married for 47 years. We have one son, Josh. Our son married his wife Jessy in 2014. Jessy was baptized and became a member the following March.

I worked at Quebecor World in Fairfield for 19 years in Building Maintenance and Grounds Care thru many management teams. Following this employment, I worked at Gettysburg School District as Head Plumber in Building Maintenance, Grounds and Security until my retirement. In my retirement, my son and I designed and built an addition on to our home including a two-car garage, full woodshop, and second floor for lumber and equipment storage.

I have enjoyed helping with St. James when we moved the church offices during renovation. I chaperoned the confirmation class with my wife to Washington D.C. in 1997. I have helped with ushering during communion in Saturday evening services. I have helped during Advent and Easter to decorate the church. Presently, I assist my wife Sam with sacristy duties for Saturday evening services.

My hobbies include woodworking, mowing, gardening, hunting and fishing, playing cards, and spending time with my family.

She attends Gettysburg High School where plays multiple sports – field hockey, basketball, soccer and track & field. She also plays viola, sings in the chorus and is part of the Mini-THON club.

Gabbi is an active member of the St. James Youth Group and is looking forward to being confirmed this spring. She has attended Leadership Training Camp and is excited to return this summer.  She has felt called to serve on the church council for quite some time now and is excited for this opportunity.  She hopes to be a voice for all of the youth at St. James and inspire the next generation to play an active role in the church, explore their faith and to serve their community.
